- Teeechnically the legend isn't about a tapir, it's a Japanese monster calld a Baku, but the word baku is also the Japanese word for tapir, so in recent years the mythological animal and the real animal have kind of fused together.

Drowzee and Hypno are based on the same myth. I think Munna and Musharna are to a lesser extent, too.

That does explain Drowzee's nose,
but Hypno doesn't look much like a tapir.

You would've thought he had noticed the, for lack of a better in-universe term, sprite change, which wouldn't have happened if the adventure thus far was just a dream.

Then again, maybe not.
